From the colorful city of Guadalajara, Mexico to the dominant courtrooms of the United States, Jessica Rodriguez-Wahlquist’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience and determination.

Handpicked by the former President of the State Bar of Texas to join Sorrels Law’s elite team, Jessica’s meteoric rise to Partner is backed by a track record of multi-million-dollar victories and a reputation for unwavering client dedication.

Born in Mexico and raised in Houston, Jessica’s bilingual skills and bicultural background are more than just assets; they’re the foundation of her deep connection to the community she serves. Her path to becoming a formidable personal injury attorney was forged in the crucible of personal adversity.

A life-altering collision in her teens didn’t just change her trajectory; it ignited a passion for justice that burns brighter with each case she champions.

Jessica’s legal prowess is as diverse as it is impressive. She fearlessly takes on corporate giants, navigating complex cases from catastrophic accidents to wrongful deaths with a meticulous “quality over quantity” approach. This strategy has not only earned her the respect of peers who frequently refer high-stakes cases her way but has also resulted in maximized recoveries for countless victims.

She specializes in representing victims against major corporations, handling a diverse range of cases, including airplane crashes, train collisions, traumatic brain injuries, sexual assault incidents, and fatalities (wrongful deaths) caused by drunk drivers or defective vehicles. Her motto, “quality over quantity,” reflects her meticulous approach to examining every aspect of a case. As a result, respected lawyers often refer cases to Jessica in order to successfully litigate the matter and maximize the monetary recovery of the victims.

Jessica’s accolades, including recognition as a Super Lawyers Rising Star, Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch, and inclusion in The National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40, underscore her exceptional legal acumen. Prior to joining Sorrels Law, Jessica honed her skills at prominent personal injury and commercial litigation firms in Houston and Chicago, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in high-stakes cases. Her diverse background includes work in international avionics, Texas and Houston politics, and advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights, special needs children and adults, and sexual assault victims.

Jessica’s academic achievements, including a double degree in Economics and International Business from Sam Houston State University, laid the foundation for her legal career. She excelled at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, where she was a merit scholarship recipient and actively engaged in various extracurricular activities, including moot court and leadership roles in student organizations. During her third year, she studied at South Texas College of Law where she was chosen to be part of the No. 1 nationally ranked moot court team and ADR team. She went on to compete nationwide, won championships, and gathered an extensive list of advocacy awards for both teams.

Outside the courtroom, Jessica remains deeply involved in her Houston community, volunteering with charities, school systems, LGBTQ+ rights groups, immigrant rights organizations, and legal committees. When not advocating on behalf of her clients, you’ll find Jessica spending time spent traveling with her spouse and two dogs, exploring culinary delights, or learning about the latest moves in the stock market.

Jessica and her spouse are heavily involved in philanthropic measures assisting animals in need of medical treatment, fighting animal abuse, appointment of pro bono lawyers for immigrant children, and low income families facing food scarcity.

In Jessica I. Rodriguez-Wahlquist, clients find a fierce advocate, compassionate ally, and tireless champion for justice in their personal injury cases.
